During the Festival of Games, the yearly NLGD Game Conference will take place. The conference will be held in Mediaplaza Utrecht.

The NLGD Game Conference invites people from all over the world to celebrate games. This year's Conference central theme is “Global Play, Play Global”. The world is your playground. There are a few basic things that join people from all over the world. Playing is one of them.

Global Play, referring to games and themes that focus on ‘the world’, to worldwide connections, creating global play.
Play Global, referring to games that connect people from all over the world, challenging people to play all over the world, because the world is your playground.

The NLGD Game Conference invites visionaries from all over the world to illuminate this phenomenon and furthermore explore its meaning within as well as outside the videogame-industry. The program is composed by Margaret Robertson (former chief editor of Edge, now freelance), Jeroen van Mastrigt (Utrecht School of the Arts/ GATE Project), Martin de Ronde (OneBigGame), Marinka Copier (University of Utrecht/ Utrecht School of the Arts). 

The NLGD Game Conference carries three values:

• It provides a vision on the future of games. It is not about now, and last year, but about the years hereafter and trends to follow;
• It creates synergy by bringing people from different backgrounds and perspectives together. Research, education, entertainment industry and games industry. It crosses borders and creates new knowledge and visions;
• The NLGD Game Conference inspires. After visiting the conference you will be filled with fresh energy and new inspiring ideas to keep you going for at least the next twelve months.

The NLGD Game Conference offers the opportunity to learn more about the most important evolvements in game development, game education and game research. The conference focuses on game developers, game researchers, game students and furthermore everyone who is interested in games, be it from a business point of view or a scientific perspective.
